Part of the process of making handmade paper is dipping a frame with screen into a vat of paper pulp. This frame has “butter cut” deckle that has been cut in the shape of feathers. The pulp is from cut up and beaten blue jeans. The feathers will be used in Jane Ingram Allen’s public art project in the Commons at Point Reyes Station, CA. The feathers are made with pulp from local leaves and bark and the pulp contains seeds to feed the birds. The project is sponsored by Gallery Route One and Lucid Art Foundation.
AWESOME PHOTO! I’m holding my breath waiting for the feathers to emerge from the water. L
