This image was selected as first prize in the Santa Rosa Photographic Society’s Travel competition for the B Group. The juror Gene Morita commented that to improve the image it needed more saturation and cropping from the bottom and top. I’ve now done both of those in the image presented here. He also said that he liked the image because it showed the Masai’s legs moving. Although most photographers would try to leave more space for where this runner is going, Gene indicated that by having more space behind, it helped show the runner was moving fast.
The photo was shot from a moving safari vehicle with me standing up through the open top. It was a one-shot opportunity on a very rough road.
