  1. We have a dark skies area, north of us and I hope to visit as the nights draw in. Is that glow the dying light, rather than light pollution, Tim?

    • It’s light pollution. If you get into night photography there are a number of Apple apps I’d recommend. PhotoPills is excellent for planning. Dark Sky is another. Thank you

    • It appears that from April 1 to April 12 the brightest part of the Milky Way is visible to you but only at 1.3 degrees above the horizon between 150-155 degrees azimuth.
