I understand that it can be a bit anxiety driven but I find people are willing and sometimes literally I’m shooting from the hip. Asking someone if it’s okay can spoil the spontaneity of the movement. Try it find a suitable spot with a good background and wait for the action to move by you. Best with all of your photographic endeavors.

I think the look in her eye adds to the mood of the photo; adds more emotion than if there was no eye contact. That makes it a great photo.
