Cremation of the Ubud Bali Royal Family Member Cokorda Putra Widura. Showing the backside of the cremation tower as it is being carried by palace men down the street toward the cemetery where the cremation will take place. Ubud, Bali – May 7, 2016
It must be an fantastic and impressive experience to witness such a ceremony. In my youth I used to see pictures in schoolbooks about these proceedings. At that time Bali still was a Dutch colony. I missed the opportunity of ever going there (regretfully).
It was a fantastic experience. There will be more images from this event.
Bali is a great place to visit. I’d recommend where we stay Bali Purnati Center for the Arts. Here is their website http://www.balipurnati.com
Christel, thank you. It does have that feeling. It is so tall that the electrical company had to remove the lines crossing the street. The tower must have been about 12 meters high. I can’t even image how heavy it must have been.
