Really great shot. He looks like someone I don’t want to mess with.
It left its nest and was struggling to return. At one point I thought it would fall. About a dozen heron chicks at this age were rescued this year after they had fallen out of the trees. They are taken to a bird rescue center in the area. Some of the adults I’ve seen this year have bands on their leg. Those are the ones that were rescued in previous years. It’s nice to know that rescues have been successful.
