Red Leaves of Autumn II

This image is very close to Red Leaves of Autumn published yesterday. This image has had the sky changed in post production. This is a laborious process that I’d not do again. Off of CA Hwy 12 in Kenwood, CA, U.S.A. November 25, 2017

Exceptional, Tim.
Thank you, Tommy.
Wow! This is a dramatic change. Very different from the previous take. So foreboding. Dark. Edgy. Uncomfortable. Like an impending storm. Or perhaps like the recent fires. If this was your aim, you succeeded.
Rawls, thank you. All the initial work was done in Luminar 2018. That included changing the sky and adding some filters. I then brought it into Lightroom Classic to adjust some of the colors. This was particularly true of the greens that tended to be too garish in Luminar. I used the new masking feature in Lightroom to adjust the color. There were other minor work done to finish.
Hi Tim. Just saw your message. The sky is much more natural looking like it belongs to the scene, But I found my eyes were looking for a few more openings of blue to lighten the darkness of the sky. The light in the far distance provided a bit of that. I do like this one better, even though the first one had a lighter feel to it. Thanks for asking for my thoughts, Tim. Editing can be a tricky process. 🙂
Olga, thank you for you insight. If I do sky replacement in the future – if is emphasized – I’ll pick a subject that has harder edges. Trees are difficult.
🙂
An eye-catcher for sure, Tim! Thanks for sharing! Marcus
Marcus, thank you.
You are welcome, Tim!
I like Rawls’ comment, Tim. It feels edgy, dramatic. –Curt
Curt, thank you. I agree on the edgy. Considering the fire we had here it would remind viewers of that difficult time. I would hope not.
