This 3’/1m iguana is missing its right front hand. It most have happend quite a while age since it has survived growing to this size. I photographed it in a tree next to where I’m staying in Uvita, Costa Rica.

  1. Fascinating photo! What an experience you’re having and getting so many exotic and interesting shots! I’m amazed how well his stump has healed. Would be fun to watch him climb and see how he adapts. Funny how we assume it’s a he!

    • I’m up just after dawn and I’m on the second floor with a very large porch. I’m up there for an hour watching and listening to the many birds in the area. It’s a rich environment with lots of wildlife.
      It seems to have adapted very well to 3 complete sets of claws.
