Chinese Banyan Tree

This is the tryptic at the entrance of my photography exhibition titled “Landscape” The title is “Chinese Banyan”.The trees were photographed in Chiayi County, Taiwan. The size is 26″ x 60″ or 66 cm x 155 cm.

  4. is Oregon always kind of cloudy like that? is it ever sunny and clear? the photos were pretty, like the guy in the kayak. the abandoned drive in Nevada and the lighthouse, (don’t tell anyone but I have a fondness for lighthouses, not sure why, it will be our little secret kay?)

    • In the 3 months we were there the weather ranged from sunny to snow with it leaning more toward sunny. I preferred the more rainy periods as indicated from some of my beach images. However the kayaking and lighthouse images were in full sunlight.
      I too like lighthouses. The one in the exhibit is the most photographed lighthouse in Oregon. It is my homage to painter Edward Hopper who painted lighthouses but is best known for his city paintings of people living in buildings.
      The abandoned drive-in movie screen was taken early in the morning. The sun in the desert area was too intense during the day. It is also one of my favorites.
      Thank you for spending time looking at the images from the exhibition.

    • Thank you. Wait till you see the sizes. I’ll try to bring a few to TAPG (is that right) in June. That’s Tuesday afternoon? We arrive back in the U.S. Monday evening June 2. You may have to punch me at the meeting to keep me awake.

  8. Greetings from NC, Tim, the work shines and brings back great memories from my time both in CA and the northwest coast. I keep going back to ‘Polar Ice’ love the color, and the Heron piece. Too many favorites!! The show will do well.

  9. Wow… I’m very impressed. Like… boink (the sound of my jaw dropping on the floor). There are some very pretty pictures here and some of them, by their contrast, will look lovely together. Good luck with the expo and hope that there will a lot of people enjoying your work!

Others are merely beautiful. 🙂 I hope you are enjoying yourself and if my walls weren’t already plastered with my own photos there would be several of yours that would be hanging on my walls.   13. Great images Tim. Would love to see them “in person” as my little MacBook doesn’t quite deliver the size. I travelled in Oregon many years ago and would love to get back. The view from Cascade Head is particularly resonant as is the stand of Sitka spruce!

    • Thank you. You should check out Sitka Center for Art and Ecology if you are doing anything with the arts that connects loosely to ecology. My wife’s 3 month residence had a big influence on my photograph.
      I too like the head photo. The Sitka Spruce image required some adjustment. I wish I had had a wide angle lens as the image does not project the majesty and eeriness of this forest.

  17. The entire exhibition is amazing. But I think the photo I could sit and look at all day is the abandon drive-in. I really like the colors and even though it is in pieces your photo brings it to life!

  21. Love Electric Sun! Been fascinated with those electric pylons since I was a kid. There must be some kind of gear that allows you to shoot into the sun like that. Did you take multiple shots and decide in which one the sun was best positioned, or did you line the winner up on first try?

    • Thank Eric, I took a number of photos trying to line up the sun in the tower. Fortunately the sun’s impact was reduced by the overwhelming haze in the sky.
      You can also tell that these high power structures are fascinating for me as well. I’ve solarized a number of them.
