Village Life: Making Brooms

Ms Hsu is making traditional brooms in a small traditional village in Chaiyi County, Taiwan The brooms are made from palm leaves, a bamboo stick and sugar cane leaves. She told us that when she got married at 19 and moved to De Shin Li Village she had to learn how to make these traditional brooms as did all women living in this village. We had to buy two brooms, one to sweep the ground and the other to clean the ceiling. De Shin Li Village, Puzui Township, Chaiyi County, Taiwan May 10, 2018

My wife and I have been working with the Quanta Culture and Education Foundation to provide papermaking experiences. This was at the Jong-He Elementary School in Chaiyi County, Taiwan.

This is a stunning space. Since this was not taken straight the vertical of the windows and stair lands are not perfectly level. Even so, I really like the light coming in from the windows
