This young girl is made up to depict a character in a traditional Chinese story/myth. It must be a sad story because I never saw her smile. She rides on a float in the Mazu Parade. Beigang, Yunlin County, Taiwan, May 4, 2018.

A pair of lions were partially completed by a master carver and he was paid a small amount by the future owner. The owner’s business failed so the master could not be paid to complete the lions. They were moved to this location when someone bought the property where the lions and business were located. Some child asked one of the villagers if the lions were naughty and being punished by facing the wall. In fact unless in front of a temple, or business, lions are not allowed to face outward. Cheng long Village, Kohou Township, Yunlin County, Taiwan April 21, 2018

A Street Scene in Astoria, Oregon. I was too far away to hear the conversation of the middle couple but I got the sense of a personal story here. The woman in the middle seems to be emphatic about something and her listener is paying guarded attention but wants to leave. On the right the couple are moving away from the woman and the lonely person on the left is trying to ignore what is going on.
