What’s Left

What's Left

This photo along with the previous one was selected for the Phonetography exhibit at the Vermont Center for Photography. This cell phone picture was taken in Taichung, Taiwan. I had just finished a bowl of seafood noodles and this is what remained in my bowl. Hello Kitty is very popular in Taiwan.

Here is the link to the exhibit. http://www.vcphoto.org/index.php/exhibition/
It will open August 2. I’ll be there and it would be great to see you there.

This photo along with the next one was selected for the Phonetography exhibit at the Vermont Center for Photography. This cell phone picture was taken in Taichung, Taiwan. As you can see from the photograph there did seem to be much of value to the car.

Bubbles

Blowing Bubbles

I’m digging into my archives. This was taken in front of the Fine Arts Museum in Taichung, Taiwan. Lots of people gather here to enjoy talking and playing. It has alway been a great place for taking photos of people.

Tea Pot Reflections

Tea Pot Reflections

I, like many photographers have an interest in reflections. I took this at a business of a friend who was poring hot water into a coffee filter. I had been taking other photos while there and this caught my eye.

Taiwan Puff Car – Front and side

Taiwan Puff Car - Front and side

Jane and I were walking back from shopping and saw five cars, each representing different characters that included two with characters Japanese animation, one with Hello Kitty, and the last two as Winnie the Pooh and the Pink Panther. I don’t know the character depicted on this care but it was the most complete. The owner had done a wonderful job transforming his Suzuki into an entirely new life. These all showed a true dedication of love.

Taiwan Puff Car – Back and Side

Taiwan Puff Car - Back and Side

This shows the wonderful character painted on the side of the car. It is very apparent that the owners of these cars put a huge amount of time and love into their cars. It must take a vast amount of money but it really shows.

This is the photo of the dashboard for this car.

Taiwan Puff Car – with Tail Gate Open Showing Sound System

Taiwan Puff Car - with Tail Gate Open Showing Sound System

This car had a full blown sound system. It really added to the visuals. The following is a video of the car and its interior. The video takes some time to load. Sorry for that.

Calligraphy Brushes in a Store Window

Calligraphy Brushes in a Store Window

This is one of our favorite stores to buy calligraphy supplies. The store is also near where we’re staying in Taichung Taiwan.

Pink Hollyhocks

Pink Hollyhocks

These flowers grow nearby where we are staying in Taichung, Taiwan. They are really stunning. The pink seems to be more common than the dark purple.

Orchids for Sale

Orchids for Sale

This small open bedded truck with a canopy was selling orchids near where I’m staying in Taichung Taiwan at around $1.75 US. I bought one for $3.20. In fact it was the white one in the center of the picture.

Taiwan Postman

Taiwan Postman

I spent part of the late morning at a morning market in Taichung photographing people as the moved from deep shadow to full sun light. This was one of about five photos that I really like.

Dirty Fake Tulips

Dirty Fake Tulips

I don’t normally take pictures of fake flowers but I’ve walked by these so many times without noticing how much Taichung street grim has collected on their surface.

Cooking on the Grill

Cooking on the Grill

We went out to eat at a combination hot pot and barbecue. Toward the close of dinner we cooked dessert. This included marshmallows.

Chicken Feet from a Morning Market

From a morning market in Taichung, Taiwan. Shot with 50mm 1.8 lens at f6.3 1/20 sec ISO 800. Well, I guess you can alway use the toe nails to pick your teeth at the end of the meal.Chicken Feet-small

Roof Top – Taichung

Roof Top - Taichung

This a typical roof top for buildings in Taiwan. The silver containers are for water storage. Water is pumped up to these tanks and then when needed water flows using gravity. Pumps are also needed when the flow of water is high.

Japanese Style House

Japanese Style House

This is a traditional house that faces the house we are staying in in an old section of Taichung. The left portion of this house has been remodeled and is of a very modern style. Most buildings in Taiwan are of a concrete construction with flat roofs
