The banquet was held at the home of the bride’s parents. The tents were erected in the entrance way courtyard of the traditional “U” shaped home. The tables and chairs were rented from one company and the table cloths and chair covers from another. The caterers arrived at 6am to begin preparation for the banquet. I know this because Jane and I are staying in the house and had to leave earlier than usual. The food was extensive and quite good. Traditionally there are 10 to 12 courses with the final being ice cream. Tomorrow photos of the bride and groom.

This image and 11 other of my portraits of ChengLong villagers will be included in a sound art exhibition by Yen-ting Hsu, entitled “Sounds Delicious”.
This exhibit from May 4 -17, 2015 is from Hsu’s residency at ChengLong Wetlands International Environmental Art Project in 2012. She is now an artist in residence at the Fremantle Art Center. She selected 12 portraits of Chenglong villagers I took between 2012 and 2015. “Sounds Delicious” investigates how food is grown in ChengLong Village, Taiwan. For more information on Hsu’s exhibition, go to https://fac.org.au/events/680/waterland?pid=58 For more information on the ChengLong Wetlands International Environmental Art Project curated by Jane Ingram Allen go to http://artproject4wetland.wordpress.com
